Gotta Dance With Us – Home For Everyone Who Loves To Dance

The Joy of Teaching Dance….

When I took my first tap class at age 6, never in a million years did I imagine I’d still be dancing at age 66. From that first class I loved to dance. As I became a teenager, my dream, of course, was to dance on Broadway. I was fortunate enough to do some professional dancing but never did make it to Broadway. I started teaching dance when I was about 16, to some local children and for my teacher in New York City. I got married, had a daughter and dance got put on the back burner for a few years. In 1973 I began teaching again. That was it, I was hooked. I am now celebrating my 35th Anniversary Recital this weekend, June 27, 2009. It has been a wonderful, satisfying journey. I started my studio with 11 students the first year and now have 2 studios and 140 students. There is nothing more satisfying than watching a child the first few classes in September, and then seeing the culmination of all their hard work in the show in June. We are now teaching children of my former students. When my parents sent me to dancing school about 60 years ago, neither they, nor I, had any idea that it would become such a huge part of my life.
