About Me
I am having the time of my life!! Just when I thought life was great (having grandchildren), it got better. I started performing again, hip hop, of all things, and even though I am in my mid 60's I hope I can continue for many more years.
My Life as a Dancer
I've danced most of my life and am thrilled to still be performing at my age. I am an original member of the Netsational Seniors Dance Team. This is my third year and I love it. I also am director of a dance studio and part of the Gotta Dance film.
My Hopes and Dreams
My hopes are that the next dance generation does not give up their dreams. Sometimes it takes quite a while for them to become a reality and there may be many bumps along the road. Trust me, it's worth the wait. I am looking forward to many more exciting experiences.
If Other, Tell Us What is Your Favorite Kind of Dance:
I love all kinds of dance but I think tap is my favorite.

1959 revisited

I just attended my 50th high school reunion. What a night! It was wonderful to see so many of the people I spent so much time with so long ago. What truly amazed me is that some things really do not change. I was in a class where most of us loved to dance. There were Wednesday night dances, Friday night dances, Sunday night dances and sometimes more in between. We grew up in an era where dances were the social highlight. We watched the original American Bandstand daily. Apparently our love of… Continue

Life is a Road of Adventure

How lucky am I to have been in the right place at the right time when the Nets decided to form a senior dance team. I still often wonder what made me go to the audition in the first place. It is not something I would normally have done. I was very happy running my dance studio and so excited by the fact that I was going to be a grandma. But I did go to that audition and with all of the wonderful experiences I have had since then, I am so glad I did. It all just strengthens my belief that… Continue

Dance for All Ages

"Dance, even if you have nowhere to do it but your living room" - Kurt Vonnegut

Whether you've always wanted to take a tap class, learn ballroom dancing, or line dancing, don't wait. You are never too old to begin. Dance is a great way to relieve stress (especially in these uncertain times), meet new people, and just have fun. In dance studios and fittness centers throughout the country, adult dance classes are thriving. I have a woman in my adult tap class who, when she called me 17… Continue

The Joy of teaching dance......

The Joy of Teaching Dance….

When I took my first tap class at age 6, never in a million years did I imagine I’d still be dancing at age 66. From that first class I loved to dance. As I became a teenager, my dream, of course, was to dance on Broadway. I was fortunate enough to do some professional dancing but never did make it to Broadway. I started teaching dance when I was about 16, to some local children and for my teacher in New York City. I got married, had a daughter and dance… Continue

Dance Your Troubles Away

“There are short-cuts to happiness, and dancing is one of them” – Vicki Baum

Have you ever seen a toddler move, rock or shake whenever he hears music?

This is where it begins, the love of dance. As young children we love to move and jump around, we think we are dancing. As we get older, we realize that we can actually dance to music, whether it be rock, pop, hip-hop, latin, etc. Some of us take dance classes at local studios, tap, ballet and jazz. Some of us take ballroom… Continue

Oh my Gosh...Dorothy Canova ! I couldnt remember her name. I just remember she scared the bologna out of me...her and that big stick! The older women on the line were pretty intimidating too.I was just 16 and terrified.Hal Sands was kinda creepy too . But the experience was awesome. I would love to try next year.I am 61and a 1/2 :0) and I sub hip hop dance classes in my gym. It sounds like so much fun. I am friendly with Jason Kidd's ex wife, and she mentioned "gotta Dance" to me.

Thanks Edie. I was with Hal Sands summer of 1965. Those were some tough rehearsals. How does one go about getting on to the Nets Senior dance team ? Sue
