What started half a century ago as a young woman’s dream eventually became a beloved local business run and patronized by multiple generations of San Jose families. And this weekend, dancers will celebrate Eufrazia School of Ballet’s 50 years of business in San Jose with two free recitals. Although founder Beverly Eufrazia died five years ago, her daughter Christina Vincent continues to run the studio and keep its history alive. In addition to celebrating its golden anniversary, Eufrazia School of Ballet has spent nearly 40 years at the same spot in the Rose Garden neighborhood on Park Avenue pointe shoes for narrow feet.

“My mom started it as a portable bar, which we still have, and she rented a room at the Santa Clara Portuguese Hall,” Vincent said in an interview pointe shoes for narrow feet. “She started with one class and then it grew from there, and then she found the location we are in, in ‘78.”. It was mostly college students who took classes when Vincent’s mother first started the studio. But as those students grew older they brought their own children, and those children followed in their footsteps by bringing theirs..

“We are very family-oriented and so the families that we get, they tend to stay,” Vincent said. A community of loyal multi-generational families formed over the years is the backbone of the school’s two annual recitals pointe shoes for narrow feet. Parents, grandparents and siblings all help out during the performances with everything from props to costumes to sets. Mother, daughter and grandmother sometimes perform in the same show. “We had three generations at most times in the school, so it’d be grandma, mother and child dancing,” Vincent said..

Many dance studios often hire or rent space to instructors from different genres to help attract business but Eufrazia has managed for decades to focus solely on Beverly Eufrazia’s original vision. “We’re a really small school, we only do classical ballet, we never brought in other types of dance to bring in people,” Vincent said pointe shoes for narrow feet. “We stayed true to my mom’s passion, which she passed on to me.”. Eufrazia remains committed to its classical ballet roots and teaching proper technique, and has seen former students become professional dancers and instructors. But Christina Moore likes the relaxed environment it still manages to offer her two young daughters, ages 3 and 8..
