In reimagining Kipling’s tale, Lustig moves the action from one jungle to another, setting “Jangala” in a chaotic urban landscape marked by discos, junkyards and construction sites. A two-week Stravinsky festival, a concert commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, world premieres, commissioned works and semi-staged performances are among the highlights of the San Francisco Symphony’s 2018-19 season, announced today by music director Michael Tilson Thomas. The season — the orchestra’s 107th and the penultimate year of Tilson Thomas’ tenure as music director — begins Sept. 5 in Davies Symphony Hall with an opening night gala featuring violinist Itzhak Perlman and ends June 30, 2019, with a semi-staged double bill of Benjamin Britten’s “Noye’s Fludde” (Noah’s Flood) and Maurice Ravel’s “L’Enfant et les Sortilèges” (The Child and the Magic Spells) gaynor minden pointe shoes colors.
