Gotta Dance With Us

Gotta Dance With Us – Home For Everyone Who Loves To Dance

I teach a jazz class for Senior citizens, and I am looking for new music suggestions. I want something they can move to but also music they will find fun!

80s music always makes me want to get up and dance. It is so upbeat and fun. I would suggest anything by the classic 80s bands, like Duran Duran, Journey, or Madonna.
50s music is fun too. We did a 50s segment in my jazz class where we danced to "Twist And Shout" and "Mashed Potato." It brought back some fun memories!
Country songs are fun and upbeat! Like 9 to 5, Man I Feel Like a Woman, or Boot Scootin' Boogie!
I love Achy Breaky Heart!
ALice, I used 'Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy' for a fun combo music. The seniors that I was teaching were very funny when they heard the title of the song and really got into the beat of it!
Save the last dance for me by Michael Bubble - it's slower than the usuall Cha Cha music, so anyone can follow and jsut go with the flow of music.
As a tribute, use some Michael Jackson. Beat It and Smooth Criminal would be fun.
I like the Micheal Jackson idea, Meredith!

If you like something a bit sultry try Black Velvet. Another dance I am doing with my group which is also called Gotta Dance is Hard Hearted Hanna. I will reply again when I think of something else.

Have Fun!!
