Gotta Dance With Us – Home For Everyone Who Loves To Dance

This is for those who have gotten interested in Hip Hop dance. I remember that I got involved because of some dance shows I saw, as well as because of my grand kids. But I have a feeling there may be some very interesting stories on this site, so let's hear 'em!

I started doing Hip Hop in high school - and I think Hip Hop was actually my very first routine I did with the dance team my sophomore year. The fun part is performing with a large group - especially when you have a good audience and they get engaged with the routine. I'm sure any of the Net's Senior Dancers can chime in on that one - audience response is the best part. That I will never forget. I would just recommend Ivy that you do get involved in any way you can.
Hi Ivy,
I started dancing hip hop when I became a Netsational Senior Dancer 3 years ago. I went to audition for the team not knowing what kind of dance they would be doing, but expecting jazz or something similar. I was really shocked when they announced we would be doing hip hop. I have danced since I was about 6 years old, but never did hip hop. I was lucky to make the original team and have been dancing for the Nets for 3 seasons. Hip hop has really grown on me, it's a lot harder than I thought but lots of fun. When we get on the court and start dancing to hip hop music the crowd goes wild and it is a real thrill. We have gotten a great reception from the fans and that has made it one of the best experiences I have ever had. Keep dancing!
I've never really considered getting into Hip-Hop... but now that I see so many people doing it. I have to admit I'm curious... Perhaps I can find a way to incorporate some more 'modern' moves into my ballroom routines.
My first genuine encounter with hip hop came when I started to dance as a NETSational Senior 3 basketball seasons ago. It never occurred to me to try it before then! Since that time, however, I have learned to love it! And I haven't even begun to hit my stride yet!

Note: it still takes me forever to figure out what the singers are actually saying! Maybe in a few more years.....
